My Approach to Therapy

My work is depth-oriented, meaning that we focus not only on the difficulties you are experiencing now but also on the underlying emotional patterns that shape how you relate to yourself and others.

Often these patterns developed earlier in life and once served an important purpose. Over time, however, they can begin to feel limiting or painful. Through therapy we work together to understand these patterns with greater clarity so that new ways of responding and relating become possible.

While insight is an important part of therapy, it is not always enough on its own. For this reason I integrate several approaches depending on each client’s needs, including:

  • Psychoanalytic therapy to explore deeper emotional and relational patterns

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to process trauma and unresolved experiences

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address anxiety, negative thinking patterns, and practical challenges

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) principles when working with couples

This integrative approach allows therapy to address both immediate concerns and long-standing emotional patterns, supporting change that is both practical and lasting.

Professional Background

I have been working professionally in the field of psychology since 1999 and have extensive experience providing psychotherapy to adults and couples.

My professional background includes work in private practice, community mental health settings, and mediation environments, where I supported individuals and families navigating complex emotional and relational challenges.

I hold a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology specializing in individual and couples psychotherapy and a Master’s degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution where I trained in mediation and conflict resolution. I have also completed advanced training in EMDR therapy, a research-supported approach for trauma and emotionally distressing experiences.

Over the course of my career I have continued to pursue training in depth-oriented psychotherapy and relational approaches to treatment. This ongoing learning helps ensure that the therapy I provide remains thoughtful, informed, and responsive to the needs of my clients.

Who I Work Best With

I work with thoughtful, capable individuals who are often functioning well in their professional and personal lives but feel something internally is not working the way they want it to.

You may already have insight into your patterns and may have even been in therapy before, yet still find yourself struggling with anxiety, depression, or recurring relationship dynamics.

Many of my clients are not looking for quick solutions, but for a deeper understanding of themselves and meaningful, lasting change.

Getting Started

Beginning therapy is an important step. The process usually starts with a brief 15–20 minute consultation so we can determine whether working together feels like a good fit.

If appropriate, we will schedule an initial session and establish a regular meeting time to begin the therapeutic process.Begin the Process
