EMDR Therapy
EMDR
EMDR Therapy in Brentwood, Los Angeles & Telehealth Across California
Many people carry the effects of difficult or overwhelming experiences long after those experiences have passed. Even when life appears stable on the surface, unresolved memories can continue to influence how we feel, think, and relate to others.
I offer EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in Brentwood, Los Angeles, as well as secure telehealth sessions throughout California.
EMDR is a research-supported therapy that helps the brain process and integrate distressing experiences so they no longer carry the same emotional charge.
When EMDR Therapy May Help
EMDR can be helpful for individuals experiencing:
• Trauma or post-traumatic stress
• Anxiety or panic
• Distressing memories or intrusive thoughts
• Emotional reactions that feel difficult to control
• Relationship difficulties connected to past experiences
• Negative beliefs about oneself that feel deeply ingrained
Often, people understand intellectually that something happened in the past, yet emotionally the experience still feels present. EMDR helps the brain process these experiences so they can be integrated in a healthier way.
How EMDR Works
EMDR uses a structured process that helps the brain reprocess difficult memories while maintaining a sense of safety and grounding in the present.
Through bilateral stimulation—often eye movements or other forms of rhythmic stimulation—the brain is able to access and reorganize how distressing experiences are stored.
Over time, many clients notice that memories that once felt overwhelming begin to feel more distant, manageable, and integrated.
Integrating EMDR with Depth-Oriented Therapy
While EMDR is a powerful method for processing trauma, I often integrate it with other therapeutic approaches including:
• Psychoanalytic therapy to explore deeper emotional and relational patterns
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address anxiety and negative thinking patterns
• Relational therapy to improve connection and communication in relationships
This integrative approach allows therapy to address both the underlying causes of distress and the practical challenges clients face in everyday life.
EMDR Therapy in Brentwood & Telehealth in California
I provide:
• In-person EMDR therapy in Brentwood (West Los Angeles)
• Telehealth EMDR sessions throughout California
Both formats can be highly effective and allow therapy to fit more easily into busy schedules.
Beginning EMDR Therapy
If you are experiencing anxiety, trauma-related distress, or emotional patterns that feel difficult to change, EMDR therapy may be helpful.
The process begins with a brief 15–20 minute consultation to determine whether EMDR and our work together would be a good fit.
